Night keeps its own angels. They arrive dressed in green and violet, standing at thresholds that lead nowhere and everywhere at once. This one holds a pale serpent in her hand, coiled like a question she has carried since the beginning of the world.

Behind her, a sphere of blue light hovers—moon, egg, or memory of a sun that never rose. The darkness around her breathes with small bright particles, as if the night itself had begun to bloom.

In Angel of the Night, Željko Đurović paints the angel as a guardian of the interval: the hour between waking and sleeping, the space between the known and the imagined, the silence in which something ancient keeps watch.
