When the gods walked the earth, they did not announce themselves. They came as warmth, as colour, as the sudden certainty that the world was not merely matter but meaning.
In this painting, the divine is present in the white unicorn resting at the bottom, in the woman whose hair becomes water, in the trees that bear fruit no orchard has ever known. The gods are not above us—they are among us, disguised as beauty, as desire, as the unbearable lightness of being alive.
But there is melancholy here too. This is the moment before their departure, the last hour of enchantment. Soon the world will be disenchanted, and men will walk alone.
Đurović captures that hour—the precision of one who knows that paradise is always already lost.
